Certified McKenzie Approach
Dr. Mariotti is a Certified McKenzie therapist with over 35 years of experience treating spinal and extremity injuries and post-surgical problems. The McKenzie Approach has been proven to be the most valid and reliable method when selecting the best exercises to reduce disc herniation or treat joint dysfunction. The choice of exercises in the McKenzie approach is based upon the direction of movement. The aims of therapy are; reducing pain, centralization of symptoms, and the complete recovery of function.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy includes joint and soft tissue mobilization (massage.) These techniques allow the joints to move throughout their full range of motion required for full functional recovery.
Therapeutic Exercise
Therapeutic exercise includes both therapist-guided and self-guided strength and flexibility exercises to regain the muscles and joints' normal strength and mobility.
Gait Training and Balance Training
Gait training includes determining appropriate devices such as a cane and/or walker for safe, independent ambulation. Balance training is instituted for those having difficulty being safe walking independently at home and being safe navigating around the home.
